Shift lever
I was just wondering if most all the members use the orginal shift handles on the columns. I would like to change mine to a shorter handle, it is a tilt auto column. Would a lever for a mid to late 80's fit? If so who would you recommend ordering from ?

Re: Shift lever
Probably your best bet would be to post a wtb on the parts board.

Re: Shift lever
On a non tilt, you need the old style. if you have a tilt, you can get one from a later van which will be shorter.

Re: Shift lever
Later van tilts (keyless) had a nice shorter arm...it also sits up higher and closer to the steering wheel. Much better with smaller wheel.
AND Flaming River makes the only high quality chrome short shift arm for our trucks...these are really nice! |

Re: Shift lever
Thanks pickmup, I used a cadillac shift arm on a chevy column and it worked fine. Matter of fact I have the very same Flaming River column on a '40 coupe. I think I will order from them.
