Re: Only 100 made....

Well I apologize for my original rant. I can't believe the factory actually authorized that conversion. Wow is all I will say...

Re: Only 100 made....

I'm betting that would be a heck of a conversation piece at the local car shows!!! I think it's pretty cool...hmmm...a truck that could hold my family of 6.....

Re: Only 100 made....

I've seen these before.. as I recall.. they were "dealer coach jobs" so.. although not factory produced.. they are as "authentic" as a Yenko camaro.

I could, in no way, judge (especialy from a few pics on eBay) if any particular truck was an "authentic" coach job or a later custom. Frankly -- a custom might well be a more quality piece since technology does advance and cstoms are rarely part of an assembly line... lol

His auction shows that someone emailed him and told him the conversion coach company built less than 100 of those that year.

Re: Only 100 made....

It sure is a nice optioned truck that apears to be in good shape. Yes they were not built that great but keep in mind they were rolled in on monday and out on wensday repainted and ready to go from what I have heard.

I like it, just dont like the back doors being front doors with the vent windows... put some doors that have a straight front on them and id rock it

Re: Only 100 made....

they were less original than a yenko in reality... GM built the yenko, Don Yenko just put stickers on them.
They are just as factory as any conversion van, andy convertable camaro or cavaler from the 80's through the 90's... as factory as an El Camino SS.... all post production conversions, but sold off the dealers lot.

Re: Only 100 made....

hell, I'd like to try and parallel park that thing at least once... or take up 4 spots at Wal Mart. The build sheet says 127" wheelbase, was that a Longhorn?

Re: Only 100 made....

Why the heck did they not use the suburban doors for the rear doors? I just hate the rear doors. The rest is cool for the era but those doors

Re: Only 100 made....

Here's some pics of mine. Supposed to be a mule from the testing grounds, but who knows. It's got 160" wheel base, . I was planning on chopping the frame, adding a short bed and throwing in a 6.0/4L60E. However, a friend of mine has bout got me talked in to leaving it as a longbed and dropping in a Duramax wit a 5 speed Allison .

becouse they woulda had to fab the top of the 4th door since burbs only had 3. This was the quickest and easiest way to do it. International still does things this way today.

Re: Only 100 made....

While it is a very complete truck in real good condition for it's age I just can't get past the hiddeous rear door setup. Don't mean to step on owners feelings. The setup on Hartrobs truck is much nicer and with much less driver blind spots. However I do appreciate the rarity of it.

I've already got a couple of Suburban doors I'm going to use to correct the front doors to they way they should have been.

Maybe I can install Chevy's quadrasteer so I only needs 20 acres to turn it around .
