Spare mounted to the bed side

Has anyone out there mounted their spare to the inside wall of the bed? Love to see a picture of that set up.

Thanks.

Re: Apare mounted to the bed side

although now i have an unpainted wheel on a 275 wide tire, this is my setup. i had to have a spare thanks to my dad, i didn't want it to bee seen from the outside of the bed, i couldn't put it under the bed with my blazer gas tank residing there, and i didn't want it flat on the bed floor.

so i took an old brake rotor, welded 3 legs like a tripod out of some old round tubing and 1/4" bumper brackets for the feet, and bolted it to the bed floor. it's at an angle on purpose because i wanted to use all the space in that corner, plus i can hide a quart of oil or whatever under there.

Re: Apare mounted to the bed side

My wife's truck had a factory bracket in the front, drivers side, bed for a spare. It just mounted the tire straight up.

Re: Spare mounted to the bed side

I am going to add a blazer type cut out. Where the tire will sit into a recess in the floor and the height of the tire will be @ 2" to 3" below the top of the bed. It will be held in place basicly the same way the one on that page does, only it will fit below the edge of the bed.
