Carburetor to Throttle Body
How hard would it be to change a truck from a carburetor to a throttle body?

Re: Carburetor to Throttle Body
Carb to TBI conversion is not cheap, but drivability, emissions and fuel economy are much better.
I suggest that you spend the time getting familiarizing with conversion details before contemplating conversion. You can find information here: www.diy-efi.org www.thirdgen.org www.coloradok5.com Commercial outfits that can supply a complete solution: www.howell-efi.com www.customefis.com www.dynamicefi.com Above list is just a short snippet of information available on the internet. Depending on your vehicle retrofit can be broken down into following sections: Fuel system plumbing (fuel delivery and return) Sensors and Injection Computer (ECM) and tuning. Each one has issues that must be addressed. Working on injection conversion requires time and patience. I am into 2nd month - since I am taking a slow step by step approach. //RF

Re: Carburetor to Throttle Body
Keep in mind that with a stock injection system your options for modifying for power are limited. If you do go for power gains fuel economy and emissions just went out the window, also the only real gain in drivability over a well tuned carb is during cold startup(when you shouldn't be driving the vehicle anyway). with that said, if you plan to stay pretty much stock its still not a bad way to go, it does have the big advantage of not having to tune a carb and ignition timing every time you turn around. as the above post mentioned, do your homework first, you don't want any big suprises in the middle of your conversion.
