Emergency Brake Problems need help
Well I went tuesday to try to get the truck inspected, all was going well until they tried the emergency brake. Lines are froze up, pedal works fine but brakes do not hold. I have soaked all lines with pentrating oil still not loosened up.
You guys have any ideas? Any pointers would be great.

Re: Emergency Brake Problems need help
you can either fix them or replace them(commonally available at auto parts satores)
either way you should remove old ones from the backing plates/ to fix soak in a bucket filled with a mixture of atf and kero overnight then you flex the crap out of them in s shape vigerously to try and break up the internal rust then try pulling the cable out thru the housing working it back and forth when you get the cable out of the housing wire brush real good and put a coat of wheel bearing grease on the cable and you should be good to go// i only fix the real old and rare ones that aren't available as over the counter replacements

You will probably have to replace the e-brake cable assemblys that connect to the rear backing plates. Probably not what you wanted to hear though..... LockDock

Re: Emergency Brake Problems need help
if the front cables move freely then you only replace the rears that are connected to the backing plates

Re: Emergency Brake Problems need help
Could be both. I would unhook the rears and test the front. You may have to have someone underneath the truck to pull on the cable when you release the handle, to see if it moves OK. Usually the cable freezes up inside the sleeves on the rear ones.....

Re: Emergency Brake Problems need help
Just buy new, not hard to instal, maybe do a brake job also while you are in the rear. Parts aren't too expensive and you will have an assembly that will last a long long time!!
