0PSI, oil pressure! Help!

Just got done changing my oil, and putting a new set of autometer gauges in my truck, the factory oil pressure gauge never worked, and now the new autometer gauge reads 0psi of pressure aswell.

The truck has 5 quarts of mobil 1 and a brand new filter.

Common sense says, that with no oil pressure, after the truck was running for 10mins, it should've destroyed the bearings and ground to a halt.

Any idea's on my problem here?

where does your tube go into the block at? If it goes in the back of the block it might have crud buildup under the hole and not allowing oil through.

Did you check for kinks in the copper tubing? maybe thats why your factory OP gauge did not work.

Re: 0PSI, oil pressure! Help!

I figure something has to be wrong with the gauge or the feed, as if the truck was running for 5-10mins without totally fragging the motor it should be fine, right?

Re: 0PSI, oil pressure! Help!

take the sending unit out of the block turn on the engine and see if you've got a squirter, then install sender see if it squirts out of there then hook up tubing and see if it squirts out of that finally hook up line to gauge and if it squirted all along the path and the gauge dont move you've got a bad gauge

Re: 0PSI, oil pressure! Help!

Chances are, if your old gauge didn't work and your new gauge doesn't work, you've got a problem with the feed line for the gauge. This is pretty common for these trucks. I would guess there is nothing wrong with your old gauge either. As some others have said, check for kinks or, just go ahead and change the line... It is probably the source of your trouble.

The bad thing is, the line is brand new.

There are spots of oil in the line up until the line enters the firewall, so it may verywell be kinked where it enters the cabin from the firewall.
