Overhead dash

Has anyone built an overhead dash along the windshield. They used to build then in custom vans. pics would be helpful..thanks

i think he is referring to the shelf/console/storage compartment that mounts right above your line of sight. many people have a CB mounted in them.

i had this one. took it out. not really an entire dash, but custom made anyway...

yup. not sure what to do with it yet. it could use some refinishing. right now it's just collecting dust in the garage.

I was refering to the shelf type that runs from drivers to pass side and has storage, radio etc. kinda have to do away with visors.

JC Whitney used to sell one. you had to remount your visors to it. here are a few, but i've never seen one used in person.

I had an 85 jimmy that had one of those with visors mounted to it. It came stock, so you might be able to find one and modify it to fit.

my old man had one in his '76. worst-sounding thing i can think of. it was kinda weird. 10-watt 4" highs blaring right in your ears... it just isolated you from everything that was going on.
might have been better with quality speakers, but not much.

I have a Highliner in my truck. Got it from JC Whitney in 95. As mentioned above they have really crappy speakers. However, mine still work.
