Working on my '68 C-30 with a truck 4-Speed and have a question about my trans floor cover. Where the cover meets the angled part of the floor where there are no bolts, I have a large gap there about a half inch wide. Is there some kind of gasket that goes there or would it possibly be that my floor is pulled away from where it should be. Anyone out there ever have this problem? Any info would be appreciated. Bill.

longhornmail, appreciate the picture. Now that I look at your cover, I see that there are a couple of bolts that I have missing that just might help it pull together. The actual place that I am referring to is closest to the firewall. It also looks like you have some kind of sealer aroung it. What is it that you have used around it. Appreciate the help.

What ever that crap is, it is 33 years old. When I first got the POS, i pulled the carpet for cleaning and I removed the original tar paper. Safe to asume no one had been there being it was glued to the floor from age.

I think there has been a rope type gasket there on a couple I took off.

they did put something there originally, i bet it was fender welting and.or glazing tape, can get the stuff at autobody paces, is good for putting in between flanges of outer and inner fenders, etc etc
