Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
I am buying some parts for my swb 4x4 from a wrecked Blazer and the guy is selling a new front driveshft for the blazer also.My question is...is the front driveshaft from a Blazer the same as a driveshaft for a 71 swb 4x4?If someone would be so kind and measure the length of one I can see if its the same as the one for my truck.
Thanks and Happy Holidays, Dustin |

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
Because my Blazer is lifted I had my front driveshaft lengthened. So I probably wont be any help.

Good thing you mentioned the lift kit because I forgot to take the 4 " lift into consideration I dont think I will need a longer front driveshaft for just a 4 inch lift though.I didnt have to on 79 although a Blazer could be different.

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
From what I have learned, the front drive shaft and axel is the same from truck to blazer. They will interchange, assuming that the transfer cases are the same from one to the other. With a 4-inch lift, I don’t think you have to make any modifications. You would have to with a 6-inch. Sorry, I can’t give you an exact length at the moment.

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
Well,I have until Thursday before I go to pick up the transmission, transfer case, and some other stuff. That should be enough time to get a answer so I know whether it will work or not.

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
What does youre blazer have in it or going to have in it? I currantly have dana 44 front end, small block chevy mounted in the back position, turbo 350 trans, 205 transfercase with a 4 inch lift. I beleive all of this plays a factor in drive line length, if you have the same setup I can measure mine for you.

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
My drive line is 25" from center of u-joint to center of u-joint at ride height. I have everything you will have. When drive line is fully pushed in at the slip yoke it should be about 23".
I can't tell you what the stock drive line is (should be about same) but I had my driveline made for my blazer. |

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
The parts you are getting from me were from a Blazer with a 4 inch lift and the front driveshaft is the same length as my other truck I am working on with an automatic.

Re: Blazer driveshaft same as truck driveshaft?
well the front end is the same from a blazer to a truck only difference is wheelbase which is not cut out of the front so a front driveshaft will interchange
