70 chevy c-10 6 to 5 wheel lug upgrade
I wanted to convert my 1970 chevy c-10 6 lug wheels to the 5 lug wheels.
I found a 72 fleetside w/ 5 lug but the rear axles have the leaf spring system, versus the rear coil springs that I have. Is this still possible to do without too much grief? thanks, dane |

You need to measure the rear end of each truck (backing plate to backing plate) to determine if they are the same width.
Anything is possible, you will have to define what "too much grief" constitutes, including your mechanical skills, tools, and shop or work space.

Also Early Classic Enterprises sells 5-lug conversion axles for your 6-lug rearend,... if the leaf spring one doesn't work out. Check, www.earlyclassicenterprises.com

Re: 70 chevy c-10 6 to 5 wheel lug upgrade
Fortunately, my 69 was converted from 6 to 5 lugs before I got it. But from all appearances the swap is (was) simple and the axles appear to me to be the stock length. If you need me to measure mine, let me know.
Mike

Re: 70 chevy c-10 6 to 5 wheel lug upgrade
if the rear ends are the same width you could just cut the spring perches off the new rearend and weld new ones on in the correct location.
not that big of a deal if you have a welder, space and time to do it. Frank
