82 Trailering Special
I brought this Crewcab home with me as a souvenier of my Thanksgiving trip to NJ. On the way home, my 6yr old son named it "Rusty"
![]() The PO removed the A/C set for his own rig, but it's otherwise complete. ![]() The TH400 was locked up so I got a Transgo overhaul kit from Oregon Performance Transmission and pulled it: ![]() An obvious leak from the valve covers, but while you're under there, you might as well check the pan gasket and rear main seal. Re: 82 Trailering Special
Thanks for the replies.
Right now, the plan is to get it running right and then do the typical body work (i.e. rockers, lower door skins) and use the truck as a stocker for home repairs, etc... The interior plastic is in good shape, but the headliner needs help & dash pad is one of the worst I've seen. Also have to lose the saddle-blanket seat cover. I do think I'll need to pull the cap a shoot it to match the lighter cream color instead of the bright white it is now & change the grille. Any input is welcome. The TH400 ended up being unsalvageable. The reaction carrier on the output shaft had somehow welded itself to the internal center support. You can just about see the various colors of the drum from overheating in the image. The ring that holds the pinion gears in that gear-train was also shattered. Tomorrow morning, I'll be pulling another candidate from the junkyard to attempt to rebuild.
