Hey all, been gone a while with a new toy
Well I do have a new toy but with my new purchase there was a big sacrifice. My 69' CST-10 is gone, sold for 8,600 $, I know I hated to do it to but wife's said I had to get rid of it due to gas. Well I was in greiving for a while then decided to shake my blues and go get another one, well I went to a friend of mine at a Joliet dealership and found a 99' Z71 Ext. cab I really like it especially the 4x4. Only problems, bad ABS Sensors (ABS kicks at my brake pedal when I come to a stop at like 5 mph or less), the dual system got I crack in it from a little rough riding when I was testing the 4x4, I had a problem on random times when I accelerated regularly at around 1500 to 2200 RPM's the motor would miss and backfire and then if I accelerated hard it would be fine, well yesterday I put a new Dist. cap and rotor on it ($ 70 big ones at autozone) no problems so far. I like how it looks to, real stout looking reminds me for some reason of a 62' GMC swb 4x4 I had in back in the 70's boy I loved that truck can't remember what I did with it though. Oh well it will come to me later, anyways the wife is still not completly agreeing with my desicions, she wants" a
2005 Z71 Tahoe with a window roof!" she says. she likes the Z71 package to, when will women learn money does not grow on trees.

Welcome back. Hope you can get your wife in a good frame of mind before she finds out you were probably better off before the 4wd.

You can buy a lot of gas for what it costs to keep a new one on the road.

Re: Hey all, been gone a while with a new toy
Yeah I hear you all about the MPG's, the wife says I should trade the Z71 for a 04' Tahoe Z71 I'm still thinking about it, the dealer says 6500 for a trade in on my Z71, and the tahoe is 19,995, I don't know what I'll do I think bet MPG's but then I think of that higher payment every month. What do you guys think?.

Re: Hey all, been gone a while with a new toy
i figure if you can afford the payments,,it might be nice to have dependable transportion you dont have to work on every weekend just to get to work the next week..the only reason i keep the ford taurus we own,,is the darn thing wont quit,,in over 65,000, i have only had to replace an altanator, and starter and 1 taillight bulb..so i just keep driving it,,plus if something happens to any family memebers in ala,,i know i can get in it and make the run from utah with out worrying about not making it..

Re: Hey all, been gone a while with a new toy
I here you about the tearasses they are dependable I had a 94' one with 184000 miles on it and drove into Chicago from New Lenox in Will county and back everyday had no big problems, but I let my older brother have it and it's still running, he lost his job again and wants me to take it back, I think I'll take it and give it to my son he just got his D/L. But I got to give this trade in a little more thought. Anymore ideas go ahead and let me know.

Well I think the Z71 gets maybe 17 mpgs highway which I think is pretty good for a 4x4 I think, but my old truck is long gone sorry to say down in branson, Missouri I think, a nice kid from down there bought it from me a while ago for 8600$, maybe I'll just wait a while and make money and then trade I think.

Re: Hey all, been gone a while with a new toy
the way I look at it when some one says something about the MPG... it all depends on how bad you want it.
I really want my ride... so i deal with the MPG. I made the guy across the street feel like a total retard about 2 years ago... or whenever the gas prices went to hell, he got a little poS-10 so he could save money at the pumps... well, he never sold his C1500 (mid 90's junk) he bragged about getting 20 MPG instead of 15.... then I mentioned... that $300 a month on truck note, and extra $45 or so on insurance plus 70-ish a year on tags... woulda bought a whooooooole lotta gas. |
