1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
Anyone here using a steering box brace on their 1st gen Blazer? The only one I have found so far was over on coloradok5 :http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthr...steering+brace
I know the earlier 1st generation blazers have a factory reinforcement pictured below but I have been trying to figure out if there is any after market bolt or weld in plated for them?

I don't have one but www.offroaddesign.com makes one too. It looks pretty good and worth the money.

Re: 1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
They used to only made them for 2nd gen Blazers. Very cool that they are making them for the 1st gens now too.
I don't think it is as much of an issue with the first gen Blazers, but if you are going to be doing some serious wheeling, it might be some good insurance. $120 now or a whole lot more later.

Re: 1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
Very cool that they're now making braces for 1st gens. I'd like to see a picture of one installed. I think any truck with a lift that gets wheeled will need a brace, eventually. My home made brace/strut uses a piece of angle iron behind the front two steering box bolts and is also bolted to the stock crossmember. The diagonal strut is welded to my front hitch receiver mount and home made front crossmember behind the bumper.

Re: 1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
I saw those pix. Looks like an install on a 2nd gen truck, but probably real similar.

Re: 1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
You are right on both accounts and from what I see either 1st or 2nd gen parts look identical and install the same way. I have also been told that the 2nd generation weld in plate (between steering box and frame) can be easily fit to a 1st gen though I haven't tried it yet anyway.

Re: 1st gen Blazer steering box brace?
Or you could do hydrolic assit and take the pressure off the box and frame.
