1967-1970 trucks that had the 396-400
any one know the name of the part that was the thing that kick down the trans only modal that was used was on the big block trucks with the 400 trans and what dose it really do? sorry all 1967--1972 i ment to say

The electric kick down switch? Someone asked about this a little around a month ago. Hard to find and expensive. I couldnt find the thread but know there was one here. Sorry I couldnt find it. The only thing I found that might help is below.

The kick down switch sends power to the transmissions detent switch which will down shift the transmission depending on the speed of the vehicle. The trucks had two different styles of kickdown switches. Up through 70 the kickdown switch was mounted on the carburetor. In 1971 the kickdown switch was moved inside the cab.
The first picture is the 1970 style of a kickdown switch and the second picture is the 71-72 style of a kickdown switch. Jim |
