SAD! Sold my truck....

It is a sad time for me. I sold my truck so that the wife and I can get a new house.

Although, it wasn't absolutely necessary to sell it, I felt it beneficial to be able to purchase new furniture, as well as pay for other new home expenditures, instead of creating more debt by financing these things. (As if the new mortgage isn't enough). In my wife's defense (plenty wives force us to sell our toys for other priorities), she suggested I keep it and we could just slowly furnish the new home. But I know how important the new house is to her, so I made the decision on my own.

SILVER LINING: This makes it more than acceptable to begin a new truck build right after we move and get all settled in!

I will still chime in from time to time, eventhough I am truckless (sniffle sniffle sob sob).

To commemorate the loss of my dearly departed, here are a few pics. Let's pause for a moment of silence...

Feel free to post pics of your lost loved ones and we can be sad together. Misery loves company...

Jesse

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

Oh man, that is one hot truck... Good for you though, I definitely applaud your effort.

I think we are all big fans of these trucks (maybe 'fanatic' is more appropriate), but it's good to see the big picture. In a few years you will have your house, your furnishings AND a truck, the latter 2 which aren't on credit!

Did you break even on that truck or turn a few dimes?

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

I didn't sell my truck, but it has been apart and in process for 4 years, with little or nothing getting done. New (to us) house on 5 acres, and kids in college, new carpet, paint, case and base, lights........... Sure would have a sweet truck now if...........

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

On the bright side of the coin, you already know what to do and what not to do if you get another project.

Me on the other hand, I'm looking forward to the day that my truck is half as nice as the one you sold is, but on the other hand, I'm not looking forward to having all the free time I'll have by not working on it.. I actually look forward to workin on her if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the kudos! The great part is that I tripled what I bought the truck for and made 7k above what I had in the truck. I'd say I turned a few dimes.

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

I see you've recently sold quite a collection of nice rides. Good luck on the new home. I'm currently saving $$$ for a new home myself, but the 4K I'd get out of my truck wouldn't be worth selling it. I'm sure yours sold for much more than that. My dad sold a real nice '68 firebird back in the day to buy their house. You now have the chance to build one even better

I fell the same way. Although my wife supports my truck love, she still can't understand how I would rather be in the garage, under the hood or under the entire truck, rather than do other things. But I did learn early on that you have to know when to stop and save a project for antoher day. I pissed my honey off plenty a time with the old "If I can just turn this wrench one more time, I'll be finished" line.

Well, It's all worth it in the end. You and your wives happiness is what is important. Plus I am sure she realizes what a "scarifice" this was for you and it won't be forgotten.

I think to many women in this world get into marriages thinking the them men they are marying will lose to silly hobbies once they get married. Wrong. How many old retired guys do you see restoring old cars. Hopefuly you wont be a geezer when finally get something else to work on.

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

That is one of my favorites on here. A sad day indeed, but a worthy cause for sure.

So how much did you sell it for? I ask only because pricing these trucks seems to be all over the map. There have been a few threads about cost to build vs. sale price as well.

Tell me about it. I've been living like a pauper, saving every dime for 15 years and I think I can now afford a shack out in the Mohave desert.Or I could move to Utah but I'd have to talk all my customers into moving with me I think.

Re: SAD! Sold my truck....

I understand your pain dude. I would be sick if I had to sell my truck, even if it were for a good reason. I really miss this truck. I didn't sell it for money. My dad flipped it over in a ditch and damaged the cab. Dad paid me back what I paid for it which I later used as a down payment on our house, so it worked out. He sold the truck to a guy who straightened out the cab, fixed the scrapes and the busted fender, repainted it, and gave it to his son. This truck was almost perfect. There wasn't a dent or a spot of rust anywhere on that old truck. My wife called it the Booger.
