Inner fenders: Rhino Lined
Well, my ole Blue '78 K10 off road/camping/fishing beeatch sacrificed an inner fender on the last wheeling trip of the season so I ordered up a couple LMC inner fenders. Just as expected, the fenders arrived as Taiwanese paper thin re-pops. Being that ’73- ’80 inner fenders are no longer available through GM you pretty much have to tolerate this crap or painstakingly rework the originals which was not an option for me as my originals were pretty much beyond repair.
What to do with these onion skin thick inner fenders other than send them to the Rhino Lining shop to have them lined in hopes of adding more structural integrity as well the obvious protection of Rhino Lining. $150 in Rhino Lining later, I finally got around to installing them tonight. They turned out pretty decent I think. Can’t wait to see how they do off road….I mean, cleaning them after being off road. I also have Rhino Lining on the rocker panels all the way around the truck as well as in the bed. I had that done when I live in Detroit several years ago. Unfortunately, that job looks like the Rhino Lining installer was sipping 8 Ball and smoking crack when he applied it with soiled hot mop, which the installer nor Rhino would stand behind. Note to yourself if you live in the greater Detroit area…..NEVER use the Ziebart dealer on Woodward Ave in Royal Oak, MI to lay any Rhino on your ride. It is a wonder I would even give any Rhino installer .10 cents after that mess. I have been very happy with the Rhino installer in Pueblo, CO though!

Looks really good. Compliments the nice 4 by that you have, especially since you 'use' it. So, did you have to contend with deep snow?
BTW, I haven't checked into this, but is there a 'smooth' Rhino finished unlike the texture that's designed for the bed lining. Seems like it may be easier to keep clean if it can be used not only for the inner fenders but also under the cab and bed. What place in Pueblo did you use?

No, we didn’t get too much snow here. I think the most we had laying on the ground at one time was close to 9 inches, which is a lot for the Pueblo area. What about you? Where are you at? I believe the smooth finish has always been an option. When I had the rockers and bed done in 8 years ago Detroit they asked if I wanted the traditional textured or smooth finish. I also believe the smooth finish is nothing more than not spraying on the final texture coat. Here in P town the only Rhino installer that I know if is Rhino Linings of Pueblo (Gary’s Upholstery). They are on Prairie Ave about 2 or 3 miles south of the State Fairgrounds. Good people. I also bought a SnugTop topper from him last spring for this truck as well.

Larry brought these by my house when he picked them up friday. The lining did a great job of making the panels stiffer. They look great installed too.
Comparing the lining job on the inner fenders vs what's on his rockers I'm seriously considering getting the interior tub of my K5 done by this guy. I've got to go talk to him about an estimate. I remember when Ziebarts did that rocker job. What a group of hacks that place had. Larry I think we need to prepare for a Feb snow run to Westcliffe, that is now that we won't hear your inner fenders popping anymore.

make me remember the story on some 4x4 board about a guy asking the board how to get the liner of his dingelingeling , turned out he got a call from mother nature while aplying the stuff and didnt took the time to take his cloves off..........dohw

We ended up with quite a bit of snow up here. I'm thinking of getting a 'certificate' for being a 'professional snow shoveler'. But, the city does a good job keeping the bike paths cleared. I can still get my rides in... just gotta watch for the patchs of snow and ice.
