Re: Pics of my new rat
Hey hartrod ,I have a 32 ford super bell 4" dropped axle, with disk brakes. The spring is mounted t bucket style I used a Vega cross steer and a pan hard bar to keep it from wandering. The hair pins are the long ones from Speedway.I made the frame out of 2x3 thick wall tubing.I hooked the frame to a Pontiac Fiero engine and cradle. Dropped the cab on hooked everything up and I have my ratrod .i call it WTF Ratzilla. Gonna try a few pics Hope that helps.

Re: Pics of my new rat
I love the rear/mid engine design! Only criticism is the "F" word on the tailgate. Cool ride man. Good work.

Re: Pics of my new rat
My wife is the same way she thinks Im crazy. Hope to go thru insp today in order to pass I had to put fenders on . Got 2 matching rear MC fenders split them down the middle widened them 1" made brackets. Kind of like the way they look. There is a local show this weekend I will see how well they are recieved. The show is in Cambridge Md contact person is Ed Nace 410-228-0758 for any of you guys who are close and need a winter car boost.

Re: Pics of my new rat
Okay, I'll ask. Where's Dover DE? I know some parts of the world require certain parts of your vehicle to be present, and a tech inspection for road use. I thought America was fairly liberal on that though. I know there are plenty of fenderles/topless rods out there on the road. Just curious as I'd love to build a rat someday.

Re: Pics of my new rat
what's under the hood? is it sealed so it could be a cargo area, or is it just empty space?
it would be a nice sized "bonnet" since the motor's in back either way, i would block off the grill. it would help lower drag, and keep lift down at high speeds, stability at high speeds is a good thing Last edited by 1-ton of fun; 01-24-2007 at 03:58 PM. |

Re: Pics of my new rat
Dover De is just below New Jersey between the chesapeake bay and the de bay. After insp you can run fenderless with out a hassle just need them to pass insp.. The radiator is in front behind the grill so I have to leave it open. As for under the bonnet I plan on putting in a BBQ grill and do some hood gating at car shows. Am waiting for some Fiero guys to tell me how much of a Fieros weight is on the rear wheels then I will adjust to get the % the same. I have space to add weight to the front if I need to.Missed insp today but am planning to go to lane tomorrow.

Re: Pics of my new rat
Hey Daniel U I just went and looked at your build pics and must say Im very impressed. You sure are doing a good job.Brought back a lot of memories of my 47 build.I have a scrapbook full of pics but it was b4 digital cameras and hot rod web sites.Mine is pro street just because I always wanted one and I used an extra pair of rear fenders for my tubs. My youngest son was 17 when I started and is now 29 and he helped me build ratzilla.I do have a few pics of the 47 with ratzilla and will try to post them

Re: Pics of my new rat
Fri while at a BBQ I talked to one of the chefs,he is a ratrodder , hotrodder , car kind of guy. He works part time for a local brewery. He is gonna get me a suitable keg and help me design the BBQ for ratzilla. We talked about making the lid look like a engine manifold with 6 tube thingies sticking up with the bbq smoke and smell coming out the stacks. Went to a show in Brooklyn N Y last year and a guy was selling paper bags for 3 dollars. You took your bag over to another guy sitting at a cooler and he put a FREE beer in your paper bag. Might try selling hot dogs and burgers , were still in the planning stage on this. But no matter what we do it should be fun. Dont want to step on any bodys toes here , but my wheel chock is gonna be a 1/2 squashed cry baby doll. Pic is my hood ornament.

Since first post we chopped the top 3'. Made the top removable so it can be a roadster too.
