Trading without asking

My dad and I were debating selling our short box frame (I think it was a 71) and it had disk brakes and everything but it had been sitting in between our greenhouses for years. When we sold the greehouses we moved the frame on to our boulavard while we made room for it, it sat there for a few days and some guy came and knocked on the door to see if it was for sale we gave him our number but he didnt give us his. When we go to move it beside our gmc we look and it now had 8 lug rims and no disk brakes, actually the frame was compleatly different. Some one really put some effort into stealing it.

Re: Trading without asking

Im sorry that you thought that it was directed at PrinsGMC and if I offended either of you I am sorry.. It was not directed at our member but the guy that stole his chassis. Im getting tired of people stealling other peoples stuff just cause they fell like it. Like I said, PrinsGMC I hope you find the guy that took your chasis.

Re: Trading without asking

Hey guys remember the VIN is on the frame.Wait until he has it completely finished then got get it back.
Just think if the thief did air bags, new brake lines and had cleaned and powder coated the frame, only to have the "real" owner come and claim it with the VIN.Even worse if you do it at a show while he is recieving an award and got a completed truck.
I don't think thieves should benefit from their actions but should be penalized.

Re: Trading without asking

That sucks dude! But you might get it back.

A friend of mine had his frame powdercoated and we put the roller back together. We had the body on it and it was fully mobile. When he was out of town, someone came by and swiped it. About 2 years later, the guy that swiped it tried to apply for a lost title. He got it back fully built (not great, but the engine was nice).

Re: Trading without asking

Sorry to hear of the theft of the chassis. We keep quite a bit of junk metal stored on our farm here in Southeast Missouri. When we get quite a bit we haul it off.

Well, to make a long story short a few days ago I caugt two different guys on our property checking out the junk metal. I told them I did not appreciate them being on our property and they left. What bothers me is when some one it is not here they may return.

Again I would like to say I am sorry you got ripped off.

Re: Trading without asking

Being realistic here. If the thief has a cab with matching title the frame # may never come up. Just in case the frame they left you is stolen it'd be a good idea to file a report with police. If not stolen then at least you have something.

Re: Trading without asking

so what did they leave you, a long box 3/4 ton frame? I hate to hear of sb frames in Alberta that i could have bought instead of someone stealing them.

Re: Trading without asking

If you have a frame run the numbers on it and track it back to the original owner. You might get lucky and find a trail back to the thief.

Re: Trading without asking

Get the cops to run the VIN from the frame that they left on your place and it may lead you to the guy if it was registered to him.

If you get the other frame back, shoot me a PM if you still want to sell it.

Good luck!
Brian
