Post What Carb?????

I have a 1970 Chevy C-20 with a 350/350. I want to get a new carb for it but have no idea what to get. Im not sure wether to get Holly or Edelbrock, electric or manual choke, or even what CFM to get. In the end I want my truck to be a bad a$$ drag truck but I gotta start somewhere. THanks for all the help.

daily driver get edelbrock 1406 600cfm when you got bad ass drag truck move on from there,leave the Holleys for the race track.

I spent my money on a JET stage II Q-jet with electric choke. Q-jets are top dollar but hands down the BEST daily driver carb. They are expensive because they are complicated. Because they are complicated, they meter very well. I ran a carter street mechanical pump and tweaked (a lot) a new GM fuel line from Inline Tube.

Edel 1406, never a problem and very easy to tune. Lots of the guys here have em and loke em

Both of the above choices are very good. The Qjet gets a bad rap from people that are running one thats worn out (Throttle shaft wear usually)or someone that doesn't know how to tune one. Its hard to beat a Qjet thats properly calibrated. I've been using a 1406 on my 68 for about 3 years now and I've never had any problems. Simple design and works very well although not quite as tunable as a Qjet.

iwant to run a 1406 or 1407 on my 350 with a l-79cam and performer rpm, but am not sure which carb would be better

My engine consists of: 350ci, 340hp, 9:1 compression, block lined bored decked & balanced, milled-ported-FI heads, HI Perf cam, gear drive, headers, HEI. Trans is 350 with shift kit, 3:73 Posi. 10" wheels and tires.

I opted for a Edelbrock alumn, dual plane intake with a Holley (4165) 6210-3. The 6210-3 is a spreadbore, mechanical double punper, 650cfm. Manual choke, which I do not use, nor is connected.

This works for me.
