another timing Q
383 stroker, with my timing set at 36 degrees when it hits about 4500rpm the engines feels a bit shaky, but when i bump the timing up a tad more to like 38ish the shaking is gone.

Re: another timing Q
pretty sure he means what rpm was the engine at to set at 36*
and I know a few people that are kinda shaky, but none of my engines ever acted like them!

Re: another timing Q
Don't be scared....I had a 350 that ran great at 41* total...Just make sure you don't have detonation or your pistons will have nice windows in them soon! If you hear it knock under acceleration you know you have too much timing, but sometimes you can't hear it, so pull the plugs after you flogg it and check closely for little specs of aluminum stuck to the electrodes. if you find 'em back it off.

Re: another timing Q
Tell us more about your distributor set up?
1. What kind of distributor? 2. Does it have vacuum advance or is it mechanical only? 3. What size weights are in the distributor? 4. What color springs are in it?(how quick do they open) 5. What is your initial timing? |
