Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

Got home last night after about 450 miles round trip to get this one. I don't know the actual milage since the cluster was swapped out at some point, but i don't think it is very high judging by the seat, pedals, arm rests and general wear and tear. Seems to run good, posi digs 2 holes (on the snow). Can someone tell me which rear end this is?
I assume the truck is an early cst since it has no headliner, and no cargo light. Same as my other 69. The glovebox spid seems to match the options on the truck. The c-20 emblems and the 2 different gvw ratings are throwing me a little, since it looks like an original paint truck. Any opinions on this? Also looks like there was never a rear view mirror attached to the roof? And what is new car conditiong???? Anyhow, here it is.

Cool Truck! Looks like an Eaton rear end. It has some funny sounding options. I don't know what "west coast mirror-s" are either.

Thats an EATON rear axle. Not too bad for a 'beater truck'

Re: Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

Great find too much stuff! Oh to answer Texasc10 question, west coast mirrors are the mirrolrs that mount both to the top of the door and to the middle of the door, ie the mirrors on this truck. Yah I love those ho52 axles, hard to find parts for but will pretty much eat anything you throw at it. And you even got the detroit locker in it to from your observation. Way to go.

Yep, you got the Eaton with the "No-Spin" (detroit locker). Cool.

As for the GVW, I think that must be a Minnesota thing. My '69 has big mailbox stickers on the drivers side of the bed, but there's only one. It was originally from St. Paul

"New Car Conditioning" is a factory code for some kind of special dealer prep when the truck arrived at the dealership or place it was shipped to from the factory. If the truck was shipped to a rural destination where there was no dealer close by it would have been Prepped or Conditioned ( like dealers do when a new vehicle lands from the factory) before it left the factory so it could probably be put into service right away.. The GVW stickers on the fender were most likely put on by the company or business that bought the truck new.

Re: Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

The C/20 badging instead of CST is an odd one. It has a very high production number on it, (that one probably started on an assembly plant #2 which woulda started the sequence at 500000 making this one the 326418th to come off that line).
I wonder if that assembly line simply ran out of the CST/20 badges. The cargo light and headliner being missing seems to be somewhat semi-common on 69 CST trucks.
Your rearview mirror being missing is becouse your truck was never optioned with it. It was still an option in 69.

Re: Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

Thanks for the info guys!!
Mike, this was the other way from alex. Don't worry, your area is safe this week...
Already, good call on the new car conditioning.
Andy, good call on the higher production number. Learned something new on the rear view mirror option. The c/20 badges are strange however.
Randy, When it rains it pours!!! Got 3 more to check out plus a bunch of parts. Might have to start selling. When are you coming up to get a few??? WOOF, WOOF!!

Re: Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

open up the drivers side door, and see if the sticker is still there showing the build month... if it's there, I'm gonna guess that it is an Aug, or Sept month truck.
69 had very high sales, all the plants were pumping out trucks in high numbers, then in 70 there was a big strike that kinda killed the notion of surpassing 69's numbers.
Not that this is important on the topic at hand, but still info to remember.

Re: Just bought: 69 CST/20 beater with pics.

Andy, no sticker on the door. Looks like there was oil change stickers at one time, but that is all i see. I did notice that it has the switch in the door jamb for the interior light tho...
