Hard top repaint question
I plan to paint my hard top next week. I am definitely painting it black and I think both the outside and the inside should be black. I'm not making it slick, I want to give it the same texture it originally had. What do ya'll think.

Re: Hard top repaint question
Black tops from the factory had white interiors. You may want to consider how dark it will be in there with the black.

Re: Hard top repaint question
That is what I am worried about. I have the silver dash, but me seats, panels, and carpet will be black. I'm just not sure I want the inside to be white. Aren't the soft-tops black on the inside?

Re: Hard top repaint question
My '70 Jimmy had the inside of the hardtop painted black. The windows were also tinted. It was also a double wall with no interior lights. It was VERY dark inside. I would not reccomend black inside the top. JMO.

Re: Hard top repaint question
As far as paiting goes, I just made a sub box for my Blazer, and painted it with Gator Gaurd. The texture on it looks just like the original finish on the top.

Re: Hard top repaint question
White inside will work just fine with silver far as color combos go, and you will be glad you went white for the reasons Huck and Chris27 said. The silver on the inside of the roof is the only other option I would consider if you are set against white, and would still look great with the black outer.
Pumpkin- Is Gator Guard a type of undercoating? Never heard of it. Sounds like a good idea! Later---DAC

Re: Hard top repaint question
Its a store bought box liner kit. A two part urothane, epoxy type stuff. I'll be posting some pics of my sub box-console on the weekend. Hopefully they will be clear enough to give you an idea of how close it looks.
