Being able to see light through the trailing arms sounds BAD! That's because the bolt goes in between the two halves and if they separate at high speed....
The panhard bar needs to be shorter on lowered trucks to re-center the rear axle in the frame. A 2" drop may not need an adjustment, but a 4" or more needs one.

Your trailing arms may be ok, but just need some reinforcement. Try doing a bushing replacement on them (probably needs it anyway), and when you pull them out inspect them for cracks. If the 2 halves are just separating why not just have them welded to reinforce them? If I were you and I saw that I'd just throw them in my dad's truck, and drive them down to the weld shop where my friends work, and have them weld them up (I don't have my welder yet).
I suppose you could either weld the 2 halves together or weld a plate on the top and bottom... As for the panhard bar there's adjustable ones you can buy aftermarket. I think that's what Mothertrucker is offering you. I have a stock one as well, and I'm going to get an adjustable one when I lower... Don't freak out. I'm sure its a solvable problem.

Here's something I drew up once to explain how a longer bar affects geometry. It would probably be better if I showed both sides lowering at the same time (as in a lowered vehicle) and it's relationship to the frame and body but...
