Cummins Conversion

Thinking of putting a 24 valve (98.5 - 2002) Cummins w/ 6 speed in my blazer.

Any body have any experience and/or leads on any info on such a conversion?

go to thedieselplace.com and look thier I think thier are 2 threds now on a converition in the 6.5 section. thier is also a guy selling kits over thier to put them in chevys he is in Koxville TN cant remeber his user name but you should find him easly.

I want to do it as well, I have an 07 mega cab and the torq is retarded!! I plan on some banks stuff to see just how retarded I can get it (over 1k I hope!) I am scanning the trucks to see if I can find a runner and then strip it and install!!

You should be able to achieve that quite easily, I've read many articles that some guys are getting 850hp/1100-1200lb/ft...in their everyday drivers.
I have a friend with an '01 quad cab 3/4 ton 4x4, that has run low 13's in the 1/4, and embarrassed quite a few cars on the street.

I think the biggest concern would be the front suspension's ability to handle the weight with this kind of swap and the drivetrain's ability to handle the torque these things are capable of producing. I guess it all comes down to how much $$$$$ you are able to shell out, to get the final product you want.

You want to find a older 12 valve to swap in (1989-1993 VE pumped or better yet a P7100 pumped 12 valve out of a 1994-1998). The 24 vlaves have to much electronics on them, and parts are very pricey (i have a 99 2500 with a 24valve and the injection pump went out of it, which is a commom problem on 24 valves and with a price tag of $2000 for the parts and core). The 24valves do have more power stock then the 12 valves, but the 12 valves are very easy to build the same power and alot cheaper to do it plus not having all the computer bull crap to mess with makes it a whole lot better for a swap.

I found a couple 67-72 trucks with the cummins conversion on turbodieselregister.com but having a hard time finding substantive information.

Terraizer: I know the downfalls of the 24v. The donor truck I'm looking at has a bad injection pump. If I do get it I plan on replacing it with a hotrod pump (an additional 75hp). And while you're right in that the 12v is much easier to wire up, I can't resist the potential power of the 24v (as 70rs/ss mentioned).
