Non-EGR Edelbrock Manifold
I am installing a new GM goodwrench engine in my 85 C1500 pickup. Just removed the original 305/turbo 350. My original intake manifold was cracked so I bought a non-EGR Edelbrock Performer manifold to replace it.
We have no emmisions testing in my area so I want to remove any unnecessary emmisions stuff. However, this is a stock daily driver vehicle so I want to keep any eqpt on the engine that will help it run efficiently and improve fuel economy.
My pickup has a UHK emmisions system with AIR & EGR. I have already removed the AIR system which was simple. I just disconnected the electrical plugs, removed the pump and hoses, and plugged the vacuum line and holes in the exhaust manifolds.
I plan to do about the same thing on the EGR system. Disconnect the EGR bleed solenoid, remove EGR/purge TCC thermal vac switch and EGR valve as there is no place for these on my new intake manifold. Anybody see a problem doing this?
There is also a trans conv vacuum switch connected to the EGR/purge thermal vacuum switch. Does this need to be connected to a different vacuum source if I eliminate the EGR/purge thermal vacuum switch?
There are a few other components that I need to figure out like the deceleration valve and the tip in vacuum switch. But I should probably take it one step at time.
