Will 33x12.5x16.5 tires fit a stock 1972 C20 4x4?
I'm looking at a set of used 33x12.5x16.5 mud tires for my old 1972 C20 4x4 farm truck. After searching the posts I'm somewhat surprised to not find anyone else having posted this question before.
The truck gets very little use, but I'd rather not have tires rubbing all over my hunny. Thanks for the help!! Last edited by 72c204x4; 02-27-2007 at 09:43 PM. |

They should fit just fine with stock springs. 2" lift is better though. My truck has dearched springs with 33" tall 7.00x17 tires, and they clear just fine, no rubbing.

depends on the backspacing of the rims. The width of those tires might cause a little rubbing. Since it's a 3/4 ton then you might be ok though. I don't think that you would be able to do any hard wheeling though without a little rub. Add some add-a-leafs or short lift and you would be better. I went with 10.5 width and they are ok but that's on a k10

I have some 32x11.50 MTRs on my truck with 15x8 wheels of an unknown offset. I found that with my manual steering box the tires would rub just a bit, I swapped to a power box and everything is close but peachy. Your tires will be a tiny tad wider, not sure if that is going to make the difference or not.

I have that size on a `72 K/2500 GMC mounted on 8.25" rims, they don`t rub.The springs are original and settled with a pronounced negative arch.I had the same tires on 9.75" rims and they rubbed a bit,no damage. That`s with general running around,no 4wheelin`.Here`s a picture with the wider rims:

It`s the offset of the wheels.Narrower wheels make all the difference in the world.

I just got on. Probably posted these in several forums. Thanks for reporting, always a good thing.
