Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

I might be buying a 68 C-10. Is the only difference in the front end the 3 pieces of trim on the 68s? How hard would it be to make the front look like a 67.

The grilles themselves are the same as far as I know.

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

Grilles are the same, the real distinction up front is the marker lights in the fenders

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

So I could convert the front end to a 67 by removing the 3 peice trim and filling the mounting holes.

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

exactly, and if your fenders are rough, pick up some brand new '67s for about125 each and don't bother with welding. I tried that one time and warped a fender. oops!

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

Anyone have any trouble with inspections if you shave the side markers or would they let it slide since the trucks are so old?

Which 3 piece trim are you referring to?

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

My '68 had the "hockey stick" chrome fender molding on the front of the fenders which made it look like it was actually part of the grill. The 3rd piece was a chrome hood molding that i think attached to the bottom of the hood front. If I remember right the '68 had holes on the front of the fender to mount the "hockey Stick" chrome.

I may be wrong but it wouldn't be the first time !!!!!!

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

you are correct another difference is that the grill on 68's are all white no matter the body color and the 67's only have white in the openings the the two trim rings go around and the rest is body color

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

Were the '67 grill loops steel painted and the '68 chrome? Not sure, but that's what I was thinking. Help me out if I'm wrong.......Jerry

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

the trim rings for the openings were painted for both years unless the bright metal trim was ordered

That's pretty cool, thanks for the info. Did they put that on the SPID if it was an option?

Re: Differenc between a 67 & 68 Front Grille

'67 and '68 CST and Custom Comfort packages both had bright grill surrounds. I have only seen the painted grill surrounds on the '67 standard package.
