Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
i dunno about anywhere else but all the junk/scrapyards i know of up here are way smarter than to scrap any of those cars.... i have a few friends that work there and they tell me they never even make it on the yard most of the time without being bought....
As for the rest of the crap out there im sure the yards arent being selective about which cars to crush, i.e. they are gonna crush all the worthless minivans and FORDS way before any gems like that.. Well up here anyways, just my 2 cents.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
11960? Is that B.C.?
Sorry, couldn't help myself. how does this price increase affect steel prices? I have a longbed frame that's probably going to scrap if i can't find anybody that wants it.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
well if you cut it up you will get what ever the scrap yard in your area are giving here in calif you have to cut it down to 4 feet by 4 feet and they will give you the prep price for your steel if you take it in unperpared you will get 150.00 a ton the frame weight 3-4 hundred pound 2250 is the tonage they go buy the english TON not the amraican ton which is 2000 pounds 1 ton stupid

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
I was just wondering if since tin was up, if plain old ordinary steel was jumping too.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
here in utah,i got a couple of recyclers, i take cars and trucks there all the time..nothing of our yr models,,but anything over 70 is fair game once i get parts off of it..but it also depends on how good of shap eit is in...if its a junker ,,i shred them...

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
There`s plenty of throw-away cars and trucks to fill their needs. Most recyclers know they can get more out of the good stuff than the chump changes price for scrap.Especially in CA where they actual remove body parts and store on racks. They can get as much for one door as what they get for a crushed vehicle.
We do need to make all efforts to spread the awareness to not crush our national treasures.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
I know a guy in PA with 8-9,000 cars in his junkyard. He`s a`65 Impala fanatic. The crushers come around and he sends them off saying,"Go crush everybody else`s.Then, everyone will have to buy my parts."My bodyman buddy makes alot of money getting parts from him and reselling them to bodyshops in the city.I put siding on his house, now I have Carte Blanche privvys there.I supplied him with a`65 Biscayne wagon(rust free)that was wrecked in the front. It`s a 2dr pro-street sedan delivery, now.
Hopefully he`s not alone.I support the "NON-CRUSHERS!!!"

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
I was watching some get crushed the other day a 47-53 p/u, lots of complete cars. There was a 90's dually that had the motor, trans and rearend out, but everything else was there doors, interior a complete truck and they smashed it all.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
the junkyards around here will take junk metal sometimes, the local scrap metal yard charges to take it !!!!!!!
the only thing they pay for is copper, brass, aluminum and stainless steel.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
I had a couple crusher scouts locate some trucks for me. They go around the province looking for vehicles. There's always a nice car/truck sitting in the crusher parking lot with a for sale sign.

Re: RED ALERT To All GM Guys
One minute I hear Jihad against all Americans. But crushing classic cars and trucks with a cold hearted smirk is just taking things way to far dangit.
What next, an army fighting against our blessed cheese burgers? Wait a minute...
