Starter grinding. Comment/fix.
Finally fixed my starter grinding noise/problem. The starter I'm using is the original, I usually buy them from Autozone. Since my truck is not my daily driver, I did not pay much attention to the problem for years. Until recently when the grinding became worst. Tried many different things, like shimming it with different gaps, and cutting the shim, I even consider using one of those mini-starter. All this things that I tried only helped temporarily but the problem would return with vengeance. Some people in previous threads had mention that a bracket is needed to support the starter. I went to the wrecking yard, found a car that had the bracket. It wasn't easy removing bracket since I did not have the proper tools, but I was able to remove it. I installed it onto my truck's starter and wow, when I started it, there is zero grinding . Lets see how long this lasts.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow. The engine in my truck is a 350 and the bracket I removed is from an El Camino.
