67 K20 w/ 292 & 4 speed
Hey guys just wanted to post some pics of a truck I found in Anchorage. I'm probably gonna look at it next thursday. Just wondering what you guys thought of it. What tranny would be with a 292 if its a 4 speed? SM420? and what t-case NP205? He did say that the fuel gauge and speedo don't work but I don't think either of them should be to hard to fix. He's asking $3300 for it, I'll try to get him down some. This is Alaska so people think that Chevy = GOLD lol true to some extent.

Looks more like a 68, 67 didn't have side marker lights. T-case should be a Rockwell 221 & a SM420. Unless things have be changed.

That`s a great combo in a nice truck.It`ll be a Rockwell t-case.That`s cheap,especially for Alaska.

lol didn't even look at that.
Whats that Rockwell t-case like? Any opinions on them? I thought the truck looked decent motor looks dirty but taken care of. (Carb, fuel filter etc) One of the heater hoses looks spliced for a circulating tank heater (Only way to go, much better than block heaters) Powerbrakes looks like a plus and the interior looks really nice considering the price.

Wow, I'd buy it at that price in PA IMO, those old 4x4 will really get around with an inliner. I love mine, although a 292 would make a great thing even better.

the fenders are 68 cause of the marker lights box is 68 or newer, but the cab is 67 cause it is a small back window I think. Not uncommon to piece together a truck this old from rust issues. Looks like a decent buy to me!

The Rockwell T221 is the precurser to the NP205. It is gear driven and has the same gear ratio. Some parts are a bit hard to find but can still get seals and bearing kits for it. I have one in my 69 K20.
Looks like a great price to me.

Tranny could be a 420 ('67) or 465 ('68). Truck looks nice to me, and the price isn't bad.

Cab interior is consistant with '67 trim style. Narrower door handles and window cranks, vent wing latch on the bottom of the pane instead of thru a hole higher up on the glass, glovebox door matte black with "Fawn" trim instead of body color. Small rear window.
'67 gear train-- SM 420/Rockwell T221. '68 gear train SM465/R T221. Doghouse/ nose trim is '68. That would be a good price for that truck in Arizona.

Whole lot easier to swap out the doghouse [hood, fenders, grille, radiator support, cowling etc. ] than pull a cab swap. Which entails all the above plus lift off cab, replace it and daisy-rivet in a VIN plate to match the frame.
That "Seafoam Green" was common to both years. It would be possible to get same-colored '68 doghouse parts and assemble them on a '67 truck. Also even easier to paint to match. Or some PO may have felt compelled to just switch the fenders for '68 pieces with the side marker reflectors and add the '68 "icing" trim: chrome strip on leading edge of hood and "eyebrows" on the noses of the fenders. My guess is it's mostly a '67. What's the VIN say? There should be a "7" stamped into the frame on the drivers side just fwd of the engine mount -- this # should match the VIN plate inside the door frame on the "B" pillar. Typical VIN should be like: KS247Z123456 (1967) or; KS248Z123456 (1968). The "7" or "8" are your years. Here's another tell: when you pull on the headlamp switch, do the parking lights go out at the 2nd switch position? If the front parking lights stay on with the headlights on-- it's a'68. I've had both.
