what is this and is it important

This was attached to my master cylinder, front axle is from a 71/2 K10 but truck is 67 vintage. The lines are totally bent up and screwy looking so I know it's not stock. Maybe a heavy duty brake option thing???

I have a set of stainless lines for the truck and wonder if getting rid of this thing will do anything bad to the brakes. Input needed!!!

That looks like a vacum operated "mico lock" ..an aftermarket brake lock..
