Re: block casting numbers?

Funny # it should be a string of #s 7 or 8 digits long. Something like 3858618. Infact the # should start with a 3, a # that starts with a 1 for with a few exceptions is an 1980 and newer motor. Remember that somtimes 6 look like 8s and 8 look like 3s, sometimes the casting of the #s is a bit rough...

Hope this helps,

-Fred

Re: block casting numbers?

Well the number was 3970010:

This website said it is:

150 3970010 350 CID 300,350,370 HP 1970 Normal 4 Bolt Main Corvette and late 1969

This is pretty good right?

Re: block casting numbers?

If it is out of a truck, should be 4 bolt main block. 3970010 is a common # used for 350 block.

Re: block casting numbers?

I came up with three posibilities for the casting #, I would assume that it is the second one, however it can be crossrefrenced by getting the casting #'s off of the heads. On a long shot you might just have gold on your hands

Casting #...ci.......year....bolt......type/usage
3970010....302.....69........4........Z-28 Camaro
3970010....327.....69........2........Trucks and industrial
3970010....350.....69-80....2 or 4..Dealer Replacement
