Brake Line Sizes???

Even though it isnt too expensive to just buy the pre-bent brake line kits I think I would really like to bend my own just to have the experience. Im wondering what size tubing I should use. I will have a 4 wheel disc setup using rear rotors from a Caprice. I have a CPP booster/mc/prop valve for a disc/disc application.

It looks like the old drum brake line going across the rearend was about 3/16" and the line running to the front looked a little bigger...maybe 1/4"?

Any suggestions on line sizes, fittings or tips in general would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Brake Line Sizes???

maybe you could just check what size the female fittings are on the prop valve and go with that...I'm guessing that the front and rear lines would be the same size.

Re: Brake Line Sizes???

1/4 and 3/16 are the sizes. Be forewarned though, you'll need to salvage the fittings off of the original lines for some of the connections. The generic straight lines from the parts store are the right diameter, but the fittings sometimes are wrong to screw into the prop valve. The GM fittings are thicker to make the 3/16 line screw into a larger hole.

Just clean em up and put them on the new line before you flare and bend it.
