sport bumper?????

I keep seeing people mention sport bumpers, and the ones I have seen pics of look like blazer/ sub rear bumpers. Same thing??
It seems the answer would be no since the sport bumper seems to be a prized item and blazer/ sub rears are plenty common, Ihave a couple and access to more, and never hear these called sport bumpers, so I assume they are different?

Re: sport bumper?????

They are the same. They aren't real common around here on pickups. Most trucks have the diamond plate step bumper either steel or chrome as they are work or farm trucks. I believe the sub/blazer bumpers are called sport because they are plainly more sporty and seen more on "sports trucks" Out of all they chev/Gm's i have owned only one had the sport bumper. All the rest of my trucks i had installed them. Up here it is very exspensive. $300 for the bumper and $300 for all the brackets and bolts. I have found a few used ones but they are getting harder to find, in good shape.

I had the sport bumper on my truck before I put the roll pan on it. It looked good, kinda wish I hadnt have gotten rid of it.

Re: sport bumper?????

Yeah, that's not an official GM name but it gets the point across. It's just a stock bumper and it looks sooo much better than a big ol honkin step bumper

Re: sport bumper?????

The big deal seems to be gettign the proper mounting brackets for the bumper to mount to a truck.
Other than that, same bumper.

Re: sport bumper?????

Soooo, same bumper, bolt holes and all, just different brackets?
I might hang on to the ones I have instead of trashing them. Just have to remember to not pull them with a chain hooked to the bumper, as someone might need the someday.

Re: sport bumper?????

The brackets are a hard to find and are not cheap new. I think you can get them for around $50.00 a peace and you need four. I was lucky and bought all four from a guy here for $75.00 I sure like how it turned out.

Re: sport bumper?????

Yup same bumper. Sure does look sweet on a street truck! If I had a 2wd gm, it would definately get 1.

Re: sport bumper?????

Wow, that's the bumper that came on my truck. I had no idea it was a sport bumper, I just thought it was a plain old bumper! Haha... I still love it though......!
