window regulator for manual 84 c10.

Anyone know of the cheapest place for a window regulator for our new 84 c10? it has manual windows, and I've checked LMC, paddock, chevyduty/classic parts, golden state I think and maybe another company.

My local guy can get one maybe in about 3 weeks, but he doesn't accept plastic, and the sooner the better being the driver's window, and not working is a PITA. Well it works but it's a two man job, extremely hard to roll up or down, lot of play in the handle, it'll move 1/4-1/2 turn before engaging either way. Only way to get it up is one pull on the window while the other cranks. The handle itself is ok, not stripped or anything, neither is the gear it slips onto. I think the big one in back or what drives it in the back maybe because if it gets in a bind it slips. I tried greasing everything, a whole can of liquid wrench white lithium wasted, still same as it was before.

Anyone know anything else maybe? PO said he replaced that window, and then it was hard to roll up and down. I dunno, might be lying hard to tell. The pass. side works smooth, just has a clunking noise while you are going up or down. I greased it today, made slight improvment on the noise.

I know alot of guys here probably have them in parts trucks, but like I said I was gonna use plastic, probably, and I don't use paypal or anything don't like to give out that info online or on the phone.

It's like $40 for the cheapest I seen, local and in the parts books, If I could get it a decent amount cheaper I might be able to do cash, just not sure because for one I have to get a radiator for it and get it legal next week or week after. That cuts into my pocket change pretty deep. On top of doing body work, repainting the bed, pass. door and fender. Plus other things I've already bought and done to it.

If anyone has any ideas or links or something let me know. I'll surf and search around online some tonight for one also.

Oh, just remembered I never had one out before, I bet they are a PITA, anyone have any tips/tricks for me or order or removal lol to help get it out and back in? Gotta remove the glass, vent? main window? tracks anything like that?

Why must i keep throughing away things people need? I just through away two manual crank doors. the doors were no good but the stuff inside were.

Also for the window it is in its tracks right? also if he did replace it he may have done what ive done and bolted the track to far way and he may have not put the window in corectly look to see if all point are together and not one is off its slider.

Have any pull it your self junk yards around? I just picked up a complete door ( And I mean complete) for $54. They sell the regulators for about $10. Plus it is a great place to practice removing them and putting them back in. Youll be a pro by the time you go to put it in your truck.

Re: window regulator for manual 84 c10.

Yea the rollers were all in their slots or tracks and the channels or tracks to window goes in were together as they should be.

LOL I know what you mean though. I got rid of a 76 because the body was junk and we had an 86 4x4.

Now I could use the 4.11 positrac rearend it had, clutch setup if I wanted to convert the 84 to manual, and it had nice glass, and doors, and all the hardware. But it got scrapped i think so I can't get anything off of it now.

Re: window regulator for manual 84 c10.

Thanks for the links guys.

That rockauto place is new to me, great site they got tons of stuff.

Not the cheapest on the reg. though since the books I have had them listed for $40 but a great site to find parts for sure.

On a side note, no pick and pulls, heck only 4 junkayrds within 30 minutes of me. Ones about 20-30 minutes away on the highway in KY, the other is like 5 miles but they always want an arm and leg for one part. They wanted $50 bucks for a gm hei module.

The last is about 15 minutes away but takes a truck to get their, well 2 places ones our friends who had our old 76 I mentioned, we gave it to him. He scraps but going to his place and that last junkyards almost requires a 4x4. Only thing we have to drive as of right now is my monte carlo LOL. I aint taking it to thoose places, it never go, unless I tore the bottom out of it!!!

Plus I know I'd find alot of parts, and end up taking alot of tolls for the heck of it LOL. then I'd have no way to haul them back.

Re: window regulator for manual 84 c10.

You might want to try emailing Brad at american-classics@earthlink.net . They have a junk yard down here that specializes in classic cars and trucks. They will pull it and I believe they will ship it to your door. I was out there a couple of weeks ago and they had several trucks. I was looking for two complete doors. All the doors were rusted so you might be able to get the a regulator cheap so they can just get rid of the usable parts.

Re: window regulator for manual 84 c10.

Are you sure the regulator is fubar'd? Mine were horribile to roll up. 15 minutes per side to take the door panel off, greas the tracks and shoot the spray type grease at the pivot point and gear and you can roll mine up and down with one finger.
