Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
No way I'd risk a GM product on that show or to any pink slip race at all. I'd race a Ford body possibly with a GM motor.
The thing about that show that gets me though is all the drama and general BSing.......the shake down run fake outs, the bargaining for handicaps....just race heads up for god sakes. |

Re: 68 Stepside - featured on PINKS
That sure is a nice truck. I would hate to lose it! And even if he wins what does he get, a $1000 Honda with $1000 dollars worth of bolt on accessories and a NOS tank?

I wouldn`t run for a title anyway. If you win you just end up with something you gotta sell.Is that what Barney looks like with his suit off?

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
I didn't see that episode, but why no engine pics? If you want to sell a "race truck" you need to show what she's got under the hood

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
I am also curious about that one ... no engine pics, and moreoever, the guy who is selling it is a zero-sale seller? Sounds like a scam to me.

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
FWIW I think the show is kinda a joke too but, I still seem to watch alot. (Goes to show there's not muchelse good on TV today) I seen one of the episodes on that truck. He did lose but there was some drama and sandbaging going on IMO. This truck I think seemed like a pretty decent truck from what you could see on the show but he blew a tranny coller line or something on one pass and about took out the wall on another not sure why on that last. I don't remember. Also the episde I watched he was up against one BAD A$$ SBC S-10. BTW The guy that beat him in the s-10 let him keep his truck but made all of this guys crew members give him the shirts right off there backs (shirts had this truck on them) Good sportsmenship on the other guys part IMO since this guy had problems. Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
Yeah,I`ve seen it a couple times. My drag racing friends think it`s dumb to negotiate with "hands-down" racing.

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
To add to it, racing for me has always been purely fun. Just working on or building a car is something I really enjoy. Racing for pinks just goes entirely against that though with all the rivalry and grudges and the fact that you might be walking home. Of course with any racing there's competition but theres some level of sportsmanship present that keeps it fun and competitive at the same time.
Don't even get me started on the whole boy racer import street racing scene... |

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
Yeah. Racing is supposed to be fun first, competitive second. Signing over pink slips, negotiated handicaps and hands down flag man starts takes me back to the 50s. Like most of the other reality shows of late, I feel a little like we're regressing to the dark ages.
What's so telling is that there's even an audience for such blustery and innacuracy laden drama. "Pontiac by a bumper!!!" says a guy at the end watching two 100 MPH+ cars whizz by. Give me a break.

Re: 68 Stepside- featured on PINKS
You get two stages to my one. I give you 3 lengths but if you win I get any race I want. If you jump Im gone...
Drag racing for titles & bracket racing are two very different things in my book. I like both but not mixed together... When you race someone for pink slips, it needs to be heads up... |
