1972 Polly gas tank swap...any fab work needed

I am needing to change out my stock 1972 Suburban gas tank because it is leaking. The polly tanks are cheaper than the steel replacements but I have heard that the fitting (hose) sizes and filler neck tube port are a different size from the original and require some step down hoses. Anyone know? Any truth to it?

The neck is a little smaller, but I was able to just clamp the hose down enough to make a good seal. Otherwise it's a direct replacement.

They are 1 1/4" o.d. filler necks which are the same as my 67, 68, 69 Panel Trucks, and both my 68 & 71 Suburban have the same 1 1/4" stock necks. To my knowledge 72 are the same, the vent lines were all correct also on these.

I just put one in my 72 Suburban the only problem I ran into was the neck on the poly tank was not as long as the steel tank and I had to go to NAPA and get a longer piece of rubber gas fill hose. And hold on that hose is not cheap.

I ordered mine from MTS directly. I ordered it in the morning and it was here the next day. I had some questions and they were very helpfull. Great people to work with they also had free shipping when I ordered mine. They also have everything else you might need for the install. I halready had a sending unit and was able to use everything else except the J blots and I went to a local Tractor Supply and got them very cheap.

I found it...THANKS....They are cheaper on ebay than dealing with MTS.

That is strange I ordered mine from MTS and it was $149.00 plus free shipping no tax and it came with the o-ring and locking collar. I just got it like a month ago. When I looked on E-Bay the cheapest I saw was $138.00 plus $20.00 to ship. The installation was a breeze. With the exception of the length of hose and rusted j bolts.
