tranny cooler lines backwards

what happens if your tranny cooler lines are installed backward?
Which way is the correct way?

not much differance altho you might go faster in reverse

I ask because my tranny has only reverse. it doesn't have L1 L2 D

The cooler should not make a difference on that. If the lines go in either the top or the bottom, they can be hooked up any way. If one goes in the top and one in the bottom, make sure the cooler fills from the bottom. out of the trans into the bottom of the cooler, from the top of the cooler back to the trans. I am not sure why you only have reverse.

probably tranny replacement time... the cooler wouldn't do anything in this department.

FWIW. The lower connection on the tranny is the output one.
This won't effect performance. In the other thread you looked at the internal linkage and I'm assuming it was OK.

I thought the magnet was the culprit. Although im sure it wasnt helping it wasn't the problem eaither. if i have the trucks rear on stands and shift it with my own hands it will weakly go through the gears but whenever i drop it and hook up the linkage it just wont go except in reverse. I have tried everything i know to try but nothing works. the truck has only been driven 2 miles in six years. could that cause something i dont know of? i guess its time to have it rebuilt i just dont want to for sentimental reasons. but the truck is beautiful and deserves to be driven plus i have like $40,000 dollars on it i should be driving it on weekends. any last thoughts to what i should try are welcome otherwise she is going to the doctor i guess.

being driven that little is probably your issue. its very possible you got a gummed up valve body with stuck valves and some seals that have dried up and cracked inside.the only way to know exactly what your issue is would be to tear the trans down and have a look

What about just trying a junkyard valve-body that's been cleaned up? (You didn't answer my questions)

Most cooling situations are set up keeping the "heat rises" principle in mind. 99.9% of the time, in all the applications in the world, you try to draw the cooler coolant into the engine or device, therefore hot stuff goes into the top of the heat exchanger (radiator or tranny cooler), and the cooler stuff comes out the bottom and back into whatever device it is that you are trying to keep cool (tranny, eng etc.)

Might check the fluid level... sometimes when replacing the trans cooler there is not enough fluid in the system and it needs to be topped off for the trans to run properly
