How do you adjust a door?

I put new S10 weather seal last year but the doors still are very hard to close specially on my driver side, it even damage the new seal. On my driver side, I can see that the gaps between the door and cab are not even. When you look at it straight, left upper corner has very smaller gap compare with right upper corner. Is there like a shim or something that can be used for adjustment? I know jcwhittney sells some kind of door alignment tool. Is that something to consider?
thanks

Re: How do you adjust a door?

Doors can be a pain to adjust. Mostly because of one of the following: Worn hinge pins upper or lower, can be felt by opening the door checking for slop. Or because the door hinge is cracked or giving away because of weak metal at the hinge. Open the door & check it for cracks. As far as adjusting the doors. Adjust them at both the plate on the latch & at the hinge with a helper to support the door. And be careful as the bolts on the hinge side are fine threaded, easy to cross thread. Both adjustments should get you in the ball park as far as alignment up & down & in & out. Keep an eye out for your body lines after closed too.
