cadillac 500 motors and trans

Got this stuff with a project truck. I'd like to use them but have too many irons in the fire. Low mile 500 shortblock. Rear sump pan. Heads redone. Needs valves installed. New valve springs, retainers, lifters, timing chain/gears, performance cam, hei dist w/ flame thrower coil, header flanges and tubes to adapt big block chevy headers, new head bolts. new fuel pump, 2 new sets of plugs, fel pro gasket set, etc. Also includes another 500 shortblock. Will probably need rebuilt. Also includes good th400 trans and converter. Lots of extra parts like starter, alternator, brackets, pulleys, carb, flexplates, water pump, etc. $900. No shipping. Can get some pics if someone is SERIOUSLY interested.

If you have an extra rear sump pan with this that you would like to move I would be interested.

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

Andy, here's a few pics. I just got home and it's all I had time to take. I also tried to take pics of the cam. The number is on it, so I will need to call as I don't see the cam card. It's a Maximum Torque Specialties cam. I also found the new lifters for it. There is supposedly new valves for the heads (my buddy was going to try to find them in the next day or so). There are tons of parts, so just let me know what else you want pics of. Brian

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

Brian,

Could you possibly check the casting number on those heads? Should be in the middle of the valve train side...just the last 3 digits is all I need. Can't quite tell from that pic if they are large or small chamber. From the pistons I'd think they are big chamber 120cc though.

That looks to be an MTS p/n MT10 camshaft...not a bad street grind.
218/224 @ .050 and around .500 lift with stock caddy rocker setup

Thanks for the pics

Brian,
Sent you a PM, saw this on Ebay first and now here.

Give me a # to reach you at, lost it a while back. I am very interested and I'll have a truck coming through there in about 6 days.

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

You have paypal.

Can you grab the casting # from the crank, since the oil pan's off?

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

Any idea what these are from?

I am reading up on the 500 and it looks like a 472 is more common...

Either way, a good motor for my truck project, but I'd like to know what I just bought

A crank casting number would be awesome.

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

I'll see if I can get out in the next few nights and get the pan off (it's bolted up now). I'm not sure what they came out of. I'm kinda ignorant to the whole cadillac thing. I've heard stories of incredible torque, but just never had the urge to build/run one. I know my buddy had a bunch of money in these and would cringe if he knew what I sold them for..........

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

Did you find those valves?

I already have a date with my engine builder to put this all together.

BTW, don't worry about taking the pan off. I have faith in you

The Driver that's come by is currently in CA. He'll call you as he gets closer to schedule a pick up.

Will it be tough to get a 53' trailer in your area?

Re: cadillac 500 motors and trans

My buddy brought a box over with the valves, but they are used if I remember right. If it would be easier, I could have him come out to the shop (we have a dock) and I could load everything on a pallet. Would that be easier? There's lots of room to move around out at the shop....... Brian

Probably easier at the dock...

Good deal on the valves.

I'll get everything on a pallet Saturday. Is he bringing a flatbed? Any idea (roughly) what day he will be here? The address at the shop is Viking Tool and Gage, 11160 hwy 18, Conneaut Lake, Pa. 16316. Phone is 814-382-8691. It's about 5 miles from my house. Brian

He'll be in a Kenworth W900 w/ Sleeper and a 53' box trailer!

I'll PM you his number, so you can talk directly. He has yours and will call when he gets closer.
