Body lift pros and cons?

I've ordered springs with a 2" lift and am wanting to go higher. I know that 2" is the max on the suspension, so I've started considering a body lift. What are the pros and cons of body lifts? How difficult are they to put on? Anyone with picks of their trucks maybe with just a body lift?

pros: cheap easy way to lift
cons: big gap between frame and body, pretty sure it lets th ebody move around more

I got a 2in lift. Happy with it. Biggest prob might be bumpers. Ive got my front bumper temp installed in the stock position.

Body lifts are much cheaper and usually easier to install. The biggest con is the gapage between body and frame... which is mostly noticable with the bumpers and the box. You could cut pieces of rubber to cover up the gapage with the box and buy (if avalible) or fabricate bumper relocation brackets for the gapage with the bumpers.

Body lifts make things alot easier to work on but i dont care for the gap. Try using a spacer block between the axles and springs, that way it wont affect your bumpers, no gap and you still are going up. Try some 2 inch spacers out of a late model 1/2 ton chevy which are made from cast iron and are the correct width. You could also just use hockey pucks or some teflon stock to go up an inch or so. Dont forget you will have to cut up your fan shroud if you body lift. good luck

Why is 2" the max on suspension?
I ordered 4" springs and put blocks and an add-a-leaf in the rear to level things out and am running 33" tires. Body lifts are O.k, but the only thing you're gaining is a higher body and ability to put on bigger tires. If you want increased travel, spring lift is the best way to go. It all depends on what your gonna use your truck for.
You asked about installation of body lifts? They are very easy to install and can be done in an afternoon with a couple of friends who have good backs. I agree with the others about lifting the bumpers and covering the body gap. If you do go with a body lift, it looks best to cover that gap up.

yep, 2wd with coils all around. I've been told that I can only go 2" on the front without modification or else the ball joints will be at a bad angle.

Had an 88 k1500 with a body lift,I would not recommend it unless thats your last option. You lose alot of body control,feels funny etc. but, if the sky is what your after...go for it!
