Carburetor Dilema need help?

I just bought 72 swb with 350 has nice rv cam and edelbrock intake. I put carb kit in holley 750 double pump to get it started had been sittin for 7yrs. Starts good but way to much carb was thinkin edelbrock 600cfm or holley 650 street avenger? Was told truck ran best with carter dont know model or cfm? Or can i rejet 750 ? First off to the board.

600 or 650 would match up much better on top of your 350 just basic fuel and air demand.

CFM= Engine CID X Max RPM / 3456

As for Brand you will get every opinion out there. Do some searches on here and you will see. So I will let that up to you.

My best adsvice on the brand subject is if you are familure with a certain brand go with that.

If you are not going to do the tuning go with what who ever you carb tuner recommends. That way they know what they are doing.

600 or 650 is the perfect size carb to get

i am dazzled over the 625 road demon carbs right now
as soon as my tax money comes back..i will own one for my 355 vortec headed sbc. with electric choke

The 600cfm is right for a mild 350 in my opinion. I like Holley and Edelbrock. Holley for racing and a 1406 edelbrock for daily driver and cruiser. I learned to tune my holley but the edelbrock is more stable and simple. Everbody has their favorite.

Today I took holley off bolted new edelbrock 600cfm pro series! Feels good to drive the truck! runs great and thanks for help

In my recent experience I got two defective 650 Speed Demons in a row from Jegs. On the third try I went with a 650 Quick Fuel Technologies-Q-Series, and out of the box it ran amazing!

SLIGHT adjustment:

CFM = ((CI x RPM)/3456) x VE

Factoring in VE makes much more reasonable numbers IMHO. Decent street engines are around 75%, hot engines making > 1 HP/CID will be closer to 85%.

Daily driver = vacuum secondaries, spread bores are great if you do a lot of around-town driving. 600 CFM is plenty

The Holley Street/Truck Avengers and Edelbrock Performers are the great street carbs out there if you're pushing <= 1 HP/CID.
