Junky to funky
What a difference a day makes. On Friday I went out with the old, in with the new. Put in an Edelbrock 600 carb, a performer manifold, a little glass inline fuel set-up, and the truck now smokes 'em when punched (even while rolling). Anybody debating whether to replace the old stuff with this stuff needs to stop debating.

Re: Junky to funky
you should ditch the glass filter. I have heard alot of stories about trucks burning to the ground from them

Re: Junky to funky
My thoughts exactly. Mine melted on the manifold, I changed it out to the chrome metal one. Much better

Re: Junky to funky
the glass ones are fine as long as you are smart about it... and from your photo... you need to get smart on it. Support it to where it won't hit anything... it's resting on your valve cover in the photo... that's when bad things happen.

Lookin' good!
Ditto on the glass filter - it's nice bling, but not a good choice :/ |

Re: Junky to funky
Careful with that Fule filter!! I'd say get something not glass. I've read about three different trucks burning to the ground (at least two in this forum) from those stupid things!

Re: Junky to funky
Nice improvement!, after reading these posts I'll guess I'll take my dad's new glass filter back and get a reusable one like mine.

Re: Junky to funky
I had one of those glass ones on mine not too long ago and it came unscrewed. It scared the crap outta me and it was soon tossed in the trash can.

Re: Junky to funky
I have one on mine and have never had a problem with it. It's out of the way of anything hot.

Re: Junky to funky
Most of the guys here don't care for glass...but as Longhorn said If you are smart with it and make sure it's supported right...no problem....I've had one for years.

Re: Junky to funky
What size/kind of carb/manifold did you replace?
Looks real nice!

Re: Junky to funky
Windancer: The old manifold was the factory one -- big and heavy cast iron thing. The old carb was the stock Rochester quadrapuke.
All others: Today's auto parts store list starts with 1) Metal inline fuel filter. You've scared me straight -- and I do appreciate the advice
