Applying a "clear bra film" to fresh paint
I want to put on 3M (or equivalent) clear bra film on the lower part of my truck once it's painted. How long should I wait after painting the truck to do this? 6 months? Longer?

you should get with filmguy he does this for a living and could probably advise you correctly.

Re: Applying a "clear bra film" to fresh paint
I can answer this. This is what I do for a living. I deal with a lot of body shops. Paint must dry for 30 days. The longer the better. We have found that you can apply the film earlier than 30 days and it will work great but if you ever try to remove the film, paint could come off with the film. I don't like to take the chance.
Hope this helps. |

Thanks! I figured I would need to let it set for some time to allow it to "off-gas".

Re: Applying a "clear bra film" to fresh paint
Yes, you guys are right. The solvents in the paint are still evaporating even if the paint is dry to the touch. 30 days is a good rule of thumb.
