Question 1979 3/4 ton axle swap to a 1/2 ton 71'

Ok guys, here is my question: I have a 1979 3/4 ton donor for axles, they are dana 44 front and GM 14 bolt rear w/4:10 gears open diff. I know I will have to change the rear spring perches to fit, but what about the drive lines? The 1979 has a carrier bearing in the rear with a jack shaft, will I need to incorperate this in the swap or can I use a one piece rear drive line? What else may I run into? Both trucks have np 205's.

Re: 1979 3/4 ton axle swap to a 1/2 ton 71'

I did the exact same thing on my 68. I used a doner 74, 44-14 bolt. Changed the pearches and the shock mounts on the 14 bolt and made new locations for the E-brake mounts, thats all. Mine is short bed, so no drive shaft carrier bearing to ponder.
