Lightbulb Coil spring info for my 70' GMC.

Need a pair of front coil springs for my 1970 GMC 1/2 ton LWB. Does anyone know if later model front coils would fit. Want to buy used, auto wrecker has lots of later model coils but no 67 to 72 stuff.

esll.

Not the be-all/end-all, but I checked at AdvanceAutoParts(part of PartsAmerica), they have a "see what this part fits" feature, and they list springs only up to '72, supposedly after '72 they are not the same.

Re: Coil spring info for mt 70' GMC.

I would think that the 73-87 front coils would be either the same or VERY close. They share the same suspension set-up (with a few minor differences) and they would have to be carrying a similar amount of weight. Used springs have got to be in-expensive, so it wouldn't cost to much to give it a shot.

The Hollander cross-over book should say if they`re interchangeable. All junkyards have them.

Re: Coil spring info for mt 70' GMC.

Long story short, I bought a 77C10 2wd for the motor and trans and found that the front springs looked the same as my 67-72 trucks springs, I took them out and have kept them, they are identical in shape, height and even coil wrap diameter. So I would guess that 67-late 70's at least would be the same or interchangeable....

Hope that helps.....
