Serpentine belt conversion

I want to clean up my engine compartment a little. One thing I want to do is convert the V-Belts with a single Serprntine belt.

Are there some vehicles that would be a good donor for this? I would prefer to do it that way rather than buy a conversion kit that will cost me an arm and a leg.

I don't have A/C, but I have Power steering and an alternator that I will need to connect.

wb,
i used a setup directly off of a '92 suburban (it had just got to the yard while i was there). everything bolted right up to my stock style '76 350 block. the only mod was the bracket from the alt. to the exhaust manifold. i have headers & iirc it was to thick around the flange. you will need a "dummy" bracket for the ac if you chose not to run ac.

I bought a used setup complete except for waterpump for $125

When I had the SBCs in my S-10...I used all the bracket/accesories from the 4.3. It all bolted right up to my 350. It was a late seveties 350.

If you are going to get the brackets at a J\Y get all the accessories (water pump, alternator, P\S pump) braceses and mounting bolts. Water pump is reverse direction, alt has different mounting, P\S is easier to take than removing the pulley and the pump (you can take the fitting on the back of yours and put it in the new pump and still use your old lines). As already mentioned you can remove the A\C pump but you will need to get a dummy pulley to replace it. Depending on what fan you use (I have a large 7-blade clutch fan off a 9C1 Caprice) you may need a BB fan shroud.

Take the fan too because of the reverse rotation water pump uses a reverse rotion fan. I used 95 suburban in mine.

Having just helped do this two weeks ago I have to only add this try & get the electric fan too. This was much easier to do than I really expected. Hardest part was using a string to get the right size belt at the parts store. Don't forget anything bolts & hardware you may need them also.

what radiator hoses did you all go with? Everything else was easy now I just have been picking random hoses from the junk yard and haven't came close yet. thanks in advance.

I have a 89 Suburban serp. setup on mine. Check out my build thread. I actually used some hoses that Brothers sells. Fit perfect.

I would be interested in the hoses that will work with this setup too as I have a serpentine off a 1991 Suburban and the top hose is giving me fits as I have not found one that will fit yet.
