where did i go wrong?

where did i go wrong?look at my son's high riding ford.i raised a jacked up ford lover, when i was a lowered chevy guy my whole life.he backed up to mine and i got the idea for a post.i'm just kidding about going wrong though i couldn't be prouder he's newly hired as a sheriff's deputy in our county.at age 22.when i was his age i was running from deputies.and that's a fact.hope he doesn't check into the old records just for the record,i had the first superduty ford with a 6 inch lift in the area in 99.i think he loved that truck.and he loves my 79.oh,and by the way.i'm just waitin to see when he removes those illegal tail light covers on his truck.course,i don't say anything because he could fill his ticket book on mine.

Re: where did i go wrong?

For a lifted off road vehicle thats gonna get beat up, what else is better to use than a Ford? Especially a Ranger, they are pretty cheap to buy. Perfect off road vehicle.

I do like the latest Ranger though. The front end looks like a mini version of the F250 super duty grill.

You didn't do anything wrong! He sounds like he's a good kid a l'il misguided automotive wise but maybe he'll come around someday.

Besides your truck looks a helluva lot better than his does.

Not that his looks bad but it's still just a ranger.

I use to have a S10 and my buddys wanted me to do more to it and i allways told them why in the end it's still just an S10!

Re: where did i go wrong?

You should have hooked a tow rope to it like you were towing it home then snaped the picture - lol!!!
Hey my oldest still wants a ford diesel quad cab, well I had a 73 ranger and a 67 ranchero - 390 bored 70 over 750 holley 4-speed, that car could haul and take the doors off most vetts and camaros, my wife bought it for me as a wedding present, so eventually they'll grow out of it..

And yes I would trade my 86 for something even close to your 73.

Re: where did i go wrong?

I'm in the same boat. I have always been a chevy guy. Bowtie to the core. Muscle Cars, Trucks and race cars...all chevy power.

My 14 year old daughter keeps telling me she wants a Ford F350 Diesel 4x4 when she gets her license. I told her she has 2 years to start wanting a chevy....or she's not getting her license....

Re: where did i go wrong?

see its not so bad, but when he trades that in for a cavalier with a fin and a exaust tip, thats when you should have the father, son talk. when you see a dude standing next to his cavalier, but in his mind a high performance machine, what do you say to him? I like to tell them just like this, man your carrrrr is sooooooo cute. well thats it im getting pissed thinking about it. in my town they all line up side by side and turn on thier rainbow lights, so it glares up on thier peeling ass stickers down the side of the car, that thier mom help them put on. ooo and thats not it then they get it thier cute rides and swurve in and out of traffic, they say the rush is so intense, they actually feel domanick in the car. man i can turn a bunch of words in to bull****. but its funny.

Re: where did i go wrong?

hey I drag raced 66-67 fairlanes for decades but always towed with chevy trucks. When my daughter and I raced 5.0 mustangs, towed with suburbans. always prefered the chevy trucks and I caught grief from all the brand loyal guys. The cavalier and civic kids are silly to me too but at least they are car enthusists!

that's funny.i didn't have to worry about that.he is the opposite of that crowd.up here in the n.w we have ricers with wings and exhaust and subs loud enough to piss you off during a good bonanza rerun.and we have the jacked up 4x4 carhart wearing romeo slipper kids with chew running down there cheek blasting counrty music .one thing in common i noticed with all groups,is text messaging.they don't even talk to the kid next to them.just send him a text.

Re: where did i go wrong?

Was there a ford in that picture? all I could see was that beautiful chevy. Just kidding your sons truck looks nice also, and you must be very proud of him. Thank him for his public service for me. You've probably done it b4, but I'd love to see a run down on your chevy, the drop and the tires and wheels the paint etc. Hey what kind of grill did you get, and do you have any probs with the hoodlatch release. I'm starting to go thru a 73 short wide and like your set up. I live in the valley of oregon, nice to see northwest guys. thanks bob

Re: where did i go wrong?

i love it when ricers pull up beside the ole 4x4...EVERY time they do they wanna race... they see it as an old rust bucket and figure its a stocker with little or no exhaust left on it..... too bad they don't pick up on that "funny smelling" exhaust when they pull up......thats okay though cause its fun to blow their doors off.. and i do just that almost everytime..
