I bought a 69 LWB today.

I know this is worthless without pics but I am too excited and wanted your thoughts. I got this truck off a guy who bought it off the original owner a few months ago. It is completely original 350/400, ps and manual brakes no rare options except maybe dealer add on cattle guard. The original seat cover does not even have a rip in it anywhere. The truck has original paint that other than oxidation is in great shape all moulding are in great shape as well. The truck was purchased new in Dallas and is now in East TX. Oh yeah is factory a/c truck as well no tilt though even tailgate is in excellent shape. What else do you want to know? I paid $2600 and got 3, 6 lugs ralley wheels with no rings or centers. Truck ran but I need fresh gas and brakes. You will not believe how solid this truck is when you see the pics. Anyway what ya think???

I am for sure going to leave it original. There rest is to TBD. I may keep and sell the 06 Crew to help finance the 72 and drive the 69 daily. I might sell to finance 72 and keep 06. I am going to post a lot of pics and gets some ideas on value. I bought it last night in the dark and raining but from what I could see it would have been to dangerous to not buy it on the spot.

Yeah. I posted under another thread. I was a little disappointed today when I saw it in the day light but it was too late. I think it is still a great deal just not as good as I originally thought.

Re: I bought a 69 LWB today.

you left out the fact that it was a CST.
Rub it out... or pay someone else if you are afraid of burning through the paint... and then see what you think of it.

Hey that's actally a good solid looking truck, not bad for that price. That grille guard was made by a company out of Waco. On the center part where the two chrome bars connect it should say SMASH-HIT and have Waco, Texas right under it. I have one just like that I pulled from a '69 C20 stepside at the junk yard.

I'll check it out tonight. Is it worth anything because I don't think I am going to leave it on there.

Re: I bought a 69 LWB today.

That's a lot like the 69 GMC I bought south of Ft. Worth. Mine came with the same mirrors, rear bumper, and grill guard, but I'm missing the outer part. Does anyone else have any other info about the grill guard? Does yours also have 2 saddle tanks?

It does have two tanks. They were installed by some place in San Antonio
and the truck was sold in Dallas.

Re: I bought a 69 LWB today.

I would like to track down some history on mine, but I'm not sure where to start. PO said he bought from a lady hows husband had died. I'm not sure if the husband was the original owner or not.

You are right it is made in Ft Worth but it says SAFE-GUARD. Does inyone have a truck with aux tanks from a pleace in San Antonio called Helmer Industries that installes Interstate Auxillary tanks?
