starting issues
My 72 seems to be coming close to some starting issues. A couple times when I've turned the key, it sort of bogs down before it gets started. I was thinking it might be the battery (it is stamped as new in 2001). I put the volt meter on it tonight when I got home. It had 13.85. I started the truck several times until it bogged down and then tested the battery again. This time it showed 12.58. I just wanted to see if ya all thought it might be the battery or the starter before I spend the $ on a battery.

Re: starting issues
Bouncy,
Most of the auto parts stores should have a battery tester that puts a draw on like a starter. If the battery test good, then you can start looking else where. I will say that a 6 year old battery should be on its last legs and it might just be a good idea to replace it anyway.

Re: starting issues
Good call on the tester. I forgot about that. I was thinking the battery might be on it's way out as well. I'll probably start there.
Dang it, I hate resetting all the stereo presets!

Re: starting issues
Better to set the presets, than pull the starter for no reason.

Re: starting issues
Sounds like a bad battery. When you tested your battery it may have indicated 13.85 volts, but under a load, (when starting) it probably drops down to 3 or 4 volts. That usually means you have a dead cell in the battery. Autozone can test it for you and let you know for sure. Later, Mario.

Re: starting issues
Also better to set the presets than be stranded somewhere because it won't start.
